What South Carolina is going through New Jersey knows. We are on the list of states where a governor admitted to an extra-marital affair while in office.

While the shock factor in the James McGreevey announcement was that the governor is gay and had an affair with a man, in case of Governor Mark Sanford it is marked by confusion.

Starts at the top of the ladder with a very confused Sanford admitting on air on June 24 that he has lied to the people of South Carolina, his staff and above all his wife and family.

Follows with Joel Sawyer, Sanford’s spokesman, another very confused man who released several confusing statements to the media about the missing governor last week.

And ends with the media who appear to be confused as to whether to treat the story as a political piece regarding the impact of an elected leader’s lack of responsibility or merely as another scandal.
