THE QUAY: KNOWN FOR FABULOUS CUISINE, SEAFOOD LOBSTER BUFFET AND MAGNIFICENT VIEW

I absolutely love dining at The Quay in Sea Bright for many reasons: The spectacular cuisine, the fabulous Lobster Buffet (which is unsurpassable), and the lively entertainment. I have dined here for many years now, and I always look forward to coming back. The view overlooking the Shrewsbury River is breathtaking, and dining dockside is a special treat. There have been several upscale changes in the appearance recently including new flooring, ceiling and other amenities giving the popular restaurant a completely new look.

The Quay is also know for their spectacular weddings, bar or bas mitzvahs and banquets or parties for any occasion.

The reason that the food is so extraordinary is due to the culinary skills of Executive Chef Michael Woodbury, who has been heading the kitchen for almost 10 years. He takes pride in everything that he creates, and he is very talented, favoring Italian and Asian cuisine. Woodbury is a graduate of The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park.

The Quay features a large rectangular bar highlighted with a working fireplace, a grand piano and several high tables which can be used for informal dining. Adjacent to this room is a recently renovated dining room. This is the room with a view which can also be seen from the lounge area. Wherever you choose to dine you can see the dockside view as there are mirrors on the opposite wall.  Another area of the Quay is available for private parties and is also used for their spectacular Seafood Lobster Buffet.

Whether you spend a romantic evening, family gathering, formal business luncheon, or the unsurpassable Sunday Brunch, I am sure that you will be very pleased with The Quay restaurant. As the warmer weather is approaching, you will really want to relax at their waterside bar, and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

The Quay is known for their fresh seafood purchased from local waters whenever possible, the USDA Prime steaks (featuring cut your own steak), pastas, Free Range Chicken, Veal, Pork and Lamb. They also offer a wide selection of fine wines to compliment your meal.

Waiters and waitresses are knowledgeable and caring, offering swift professional service making your dining experience a most pleasant one.

To begin, we choose two new items on the appetizer menu, Drunken Clams and Escargot. One dozen fresh tasting clams were simmered in butter, beer and garlic, and the outstanding flavor of the tender clams was phenomenal.

I love Escargot and here at The Quay they created a special version, one which I have never tasted anywhere.  The French snails were prepared with garlic, shallots, white wine in a lemon butter sauce, served in a tender puff pastry. Outstanding!

As you already know, The Quay is known for the freshest seafood possible. If you are a Tuna fan be sure to order the Sesame Pan Seared Tuna, made with Sushi grade tuna – pan seared or blackened – served with Basmati Rice and vegetables. We chose the pan seared version which was rich in color as well as flavor. The tuna was centered with a dollop of wassail, garnished with tomatoes and small mounds of white rice.

Another seafood treat is Grilled Atlantic Salmon, char grilled and served with a bed  fresh sautéed spinach, topped with tomato concasse, served with a medley of assorted fresh vegetables and white rice. The salmon was fresh tasting and filled with an abundance of flavor.

The  Quay even offers an appetizer portions of New Zealand  Lamb Chops, which is more of a dinner portion , served with rosemary demiglace. The chops were succulent and very tasty – a sure bet.

It is unusual in the majority of restaurants to offer “Cut Your Own Steak,” but here at the Quay you can choose between a 16-oz. cut and a 22-oz. cut. We absolutely loved the NY Strip Steak (chargrilled in an open flame to your liking, topped with onion rings). The steak was filled with an abundance of flavor, was tender and very appealing to any steak aficionado.

Now for the seafood lovers, Sesame Pan Seared or Blackened Tuna is an excellent choice, the sushi grade tuna will melt in your mouth served pan seared or blackened, served with basmati rice and vegetables.

Another winner is Grilled Salmon, Atlantic Salmon, char grilled and served on a bed of fresh sautéed spinach, topped with tomato concasse.  If you like salmon, you will love their preparation of this sought after fish, prepared from the expertise.

The Quay is also known for their fabulous Lobsters and their signature Lobster Tail is as large as 24 ounces. You can also order a platter with a whole lobster available in several sizes.

Don’t miss their famous and fabulous Seafood Lobster Buffet (all you can eat} – the best in the entire area!

Whatever your choice, I am sure that you will love the Quay and want to return soon to sample other exciting choices on the diversified menu. Enjoy!
