Middletown South High School's own former Football superstar, Knowshon Moreno, Rb Georgia (5'10 217 lbs), led Middletown South to three state championships. He finished his high school career with 6,268 career rushing yards, 128 touchdowns, and 728 points according to Wikipedia encyclopedia. His rushing yards are second all-time in New Jersey high school ranks, while he is all-time leading scorer according to Wikipedia. After high school he went on to play for the University State Georgia Bulldogs.
Moreno is expected to be a top pick in the first round of the NFL draft today. Marino, a sophomore, at Georgia announced on January 7, 2009, to forgo his remaining two years college eligibility and declare for the NFL Draft. His lifelong dream is to play in the NFL.
In 2008 he ran for 1400 yards on 250 attempts with 16 rushing touchdowns. In his two years he ran for 2,734 yards on 475 attempts and had 30 rushing touchdowns, as well as 53 receptions for 645 yards and 3 receiving touchdowns.
Marino, as well as all of the Middletown sports enthusiast, family, friends, and former high school, college classmates, and national sports commentators will be eying the NFL draft selections to see what NFL teams picks him and what his overall pick he is.
Moreno is not the first Middletown football superstar to be picked in the first round of the NFL Draft. Jason Peter was the highest pick ever from Middletown, who also played for Middletown South, was 14th overall in 1998. The NFL drafts first round starts today at 4:00.
