Middletown Township - School District presents a special forum for all parents and teachers entitled Alcohol and Youth: The Deceptive Drug. Subjects to be covered include trends in underage drinking, new legislation which holds teens harmless in reporting an emergency situation involving underage drinking, and new research on the effect alcohol has on the developing adolescent brain.
Middletown SAC Counselor Rosemary Richards comments on the problem of underage drinking, "Alcohol is truly the deceptive drug with our youth. It is actually responsible for more fatalities than any other drug. Particularly powerful at our presentation will be testimony of a recovering young alcoholic. It is very important that parents and teachers come to the forum to learn tips on how to deal with this phenomenon which affects adolescents throughout our country."
The program, which is being presented by the school district's Student Assistance Coordinators (SAC), will take place in the High School North auditorium on Tindall Road, Wednesday, April 14 from 7 to 8:30pm.
