Leonardo - Sebastian's Hair-em & Day Spa, a third-generation salon started in 1975, is seeking nominations for the ‘New Beginnings' Makeover Contest, a unique event designed to recognize women in the local community who consider the needs of others. "We are looking for someone who puts others first," stated Sebastian's owner Cheryl McClelland, "and freely gives her time and energy for the common good." McClelland, along with her two sisters - Sebastian's co-owners Donna Tactikos and Lynda Rohrmann - are no strangers to community service and value the importance of giving back. The salon is a longtime supporter of the ‘Look Good...Feel Better' program, an initiative of the American Cancer Society. McClelland added that the contest, which she described as a "complete makeover head to toe," is being offered for the first time and is a major collaboration between several local businesses. "Everyone involved is amazing. All I had to do was ask, and everyone agreed immediately to donate products, services, and most importantly, their time. The whole purpose is to touch others and make a real difference in someone's life," she said.
The grand prizewinner will receive a menagerie of goods and services with an approximate value of $3,250. Included is a personally-customized beauty makeover including color and highlights, haircut, massage, manicure, pedicure, eyebrow shaping, and professional make-up application by Sebastian's Hair-em & Day Spa (a $400 value); a customized gift basket of make-up and hair care products (a $150 value); professional tooth bleaching (tray technique) by Dr. Buzzanco, DMD, Family Dentistry (a $350 value); customized services from Dr. El Attar, M.D. and his staff at Derma Laser Center - botox, fillers, a chemical peel, photo facial and microdermabrasion (a $2,000 value); a professional photography package from Paul Scharff Photography which includes two photography sessions valued at $250, an online proofing of 20 images per session, and two 8x10 ‘before and after' prints valued at $100; and a new outfit from Stacy Gemma, Shrewsbury, valued at $200. Two runners-up will also be chosen.
Deadline for entries is May 15, 2010. Anyone wishing to nominate someone must compose a letter of 200 words or less describing the nominee and why she deserves the makeover. The nominee's name, address, phone number, and email must be included along with a recent photo in .jpg or .gif format. Those making the nominations must also include their name, address, phone number, and email. A panel of judges from Sebastian's Hair-em & Day Spa will evaluate the entries.
