Pro wrestling fundraiser this Saturday in Middletown The Courier, May 8 Posted:05/13/08
It may be too early for the summer crowd, but this Saturday night, May 10 the traffic on Route 36 will converge on the Bayshore area as the Jersey Shore’s other favorite attraction, National Wrestling Superstars (NWS), makes its second-ever appearance at North Middletown’s St. Catherine’s Church Gym (5 Shore Acres Avenue, just off Bray Avenue, just off Bray Avenue and minutes from Route 36), as the Columbus Society of St. Catherine’s Church teams up with the nation’s leader in pro wrestling fundraisers for a night of all-star action.
Headlining this all-star card will be Nick Densmore, perhaps better known to WWE RAW TV fans as the happy-go-lucky Eugene character, who will be smiling and high-fiving the fans all the way to the ring, will be a pair of ECW originals in the form of Danny Morrison (a.k.a. “Dastardly” Danny Doring) who has his hands full with Blue Meanie and Julio Dinero who bares the brunt of working Eugene.
The 7-foot, 5-inch former WWE Oddities member Giant Silva will be in a most unusual match in Middletown, a “Gulliver’s Travels” match, where four gullible young wrestlers will storm into the ring with a fishnet to try and pin down the biggest catch ever seen in an NWS ring. This one has to be seen to be delivered.
The lovely ladies of wrestling will also shine in North Middletown as Lacey Von Erich, daughter of the late “Texas Tornado” Kerry Von Erich, will thrill the Bayshore area fans that night. This young member of one of pro wrestling’s most famous families will not have an easy time, however, as her opponent will be the 2008 NWS Women’s J-Cup Champion, and area wrestling standout Mercedes Martinez.
Also seeing ring time will be NWS Jersey Shore Champion Nicky Oceans, Jersey Shore favorite Rhett Titus, brawler Danny Demanto, plus Bayshore area standouts Shane O’Brien, “Jumping” Joey Janella, Corey Havoc and Dan Rageous. The debut of Union Beach’s “Klondike” Kevin Krush will also be featured.
Tickets for this highly anticipated event are only $19 for ringsides seats and $17 for bleacher seats, and are available at the following outlets: Original Bevacqua’s, 305 Port Monmouth Road and Bray Avenue Deli, 190 Bray Avenue in North Middletown; Natural Man’s Hair Cutters, 104 Leonardville Road (at Campbell’s Junction) in Middletown; Keansburg Pharmacy, 199 Main Street (next to Dunkin’ Donuts) and Home Run Embroidery, 265 Main Street in Keansburg; Keller’s Deli, 610 Florence Avenue in Union Beach; P and P Lunch, Middle Road and Laurel Avenue along the border of Hazlet and Holmdel; and Trading Hut Army & Navy Store, 39 Route 36 (at Atlantic Street).
You can also order tickets by calling NWS at 732-888-1704. All major credit cards are accepted and group rates are available for groups of 10 or more. Remaining seats, if any, will go on sale one hour before bell time.
