SCENE AROUND: Chefs Help FoodBank Fight Hunger

This week’s photos were taken at Culinary Classic ‘08 at The Mill in Spring Lake Heights which raised funds to support The FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean counties. 

SPRING LAKE HEIGHTS – Thirty-five local chefs from the area’s top restaurants participated in the 17th annual Culinary Classic at The Mill to raise money to support The FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean counties.

The event featured music, a raffle of TAG Heuer watches donated by Ballew Jewelers of Sea Girt, Red Bank, and Freehold, plus a silent auction and a 50/50.

Local restaurants that participated included: Pian-cone’s of Bradley Beach; Market in the Middle, Asbury; Mumford’s Culinary Center of Tinton Falls; Danny’s Steak House and Seafood Grille of Red Bank; Bay Avenue Trattoria of the Highlands; McLoone’s Rum Runner and Pier House; The Molly Pitcher Inn, and Oyster Point Hotel of Red Bank.

Also, Picola Italia of Ocean; The Melting Pot of Red Bank; Rooney’s of Long Branch; Gaetano’s of Red Bank; Wegmans of Ocean; Joe Leone’s; Mahogany Grille; Shipwreck Grill; Black Trumpet, and others. Newcomers to the event included Scarborough Fair of Sea Girt, The Tuscany of Brick, and Synaxis of Asbury Park.

Last year’s Culinary Classic raised more than $80,000 to help support the distribution of 3.5 million pounds of food to 250 charities in the two counties, as well as numerous FoodBank programs such as the Culinary Teaching Kitchen.
