Benefit raffling off chef, tattoo
The Courier, July 24
Posted:07/25/08
The benefit at Trinity Restaurant, in Keyport, for cancer patient Stephanie Coonan will offer more than just great food for a good cause.

Danielle Friend, the event's coordinator, said there are at least a dozen prizes that will be raffled off during the luncheon, called "Don't Stop Believing," on Saturday, July 26.

The luncheon will begin at noon; tickets are $30 per person.

The prizes are being raffled off to raise money for Coonan's fund.

The Hazlet resident was diagnosed with stomach cancer this past fall and has since gone through numerous surgical procedures. Coonan has even had her stomach removed.

She was a senior at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ), in Ewing, prior to her diagnosis.

Both Coonan and Friend are members of the Theta Phi Alpha Sorority. Coonan was a member of TCNJ's local chapter and Friend a member of Fairleigh Dickinson's chapter, in Madison.

Friend said several local restaurants have donated gift certificates for the benefit, including Trinity; the Bulkhead Bar & Grille, in Keyport; Drew's Bayshore Bistro, also in Keyport; and Pirate's Cove on the Bay, in Belford.

The Shall We Dance studio, in Middletown, also donated a gift certificate, valued at $125. It includes one private dance lesson, one group lesson and one party lesson.

Other prizes include a Michael Kors handbag; a gift certificate from Victoria's Florist, in Cranford; a Disney gift basket, including two autographed books; and a pearl necklace and earring set from the Westfield Knights of Columbus.

The grand prize is a personal, home dinner for eight prepared by Trinity Chef Michael d'Ennery.

Notably, Fat Kat Tattoos in Keyport donated a tattoo to be raffled off as another grand prize.

The raffle will be conducted as a silent auction.
