RUNWAY 34: GREAT FOOD AND ENTERTAINMENT

WALL – Not only is the food above par, but it is an exciting experience being here at Runway 34. That is because it is located directly next to the Allaire Airport where you can see the planes come in and out.

The eatery also features live entertainment and dancing. This is a plus as there are so few places where you can actually dance and dine anymore. Runway 34 is also an ideal place for family dining or for that special occasion as they have a pleasant private dining room. They also feature dancing, bringing you “back in time” with songs of the 50’s and 60’s.

You will never feel that you are being rushed as you can dance all through the night as long as you are having a good time and — I can guarantee — that is what you will have. We were greeted with fine hospitality making us feel welcome and the servers were very accommodating and pleasant, making our meal most enjoyable.

The owner is Don Bisogni of Wall and managing the restaurant is Brian Breaker of Belmar.

You will walk into a large well-stocked lounge area, adjacent to a comfortable dining room. The entire side of the building has windows so that the airport is visible. Tables are adequately spaced, surrounded with comfortable chairs.

Taking over the kitchen is Executive Chef Matt Giarratano, a very talented chef who is a graduate of Long Island East Islip Culinary School. He favors traditional Italian cuisine and one of his favorite dishes is Zuppa di Pesce. He purchases his seafood several times a week and will gladly accommodate anyone with a special diet or request as long as he has the ingredients in the kitchen.

We found the cuisine to be above par, beginning with the appetizers, entrees and the luscious desserts. We were presented with an array of great beginnings, each one better than the next. The presentation alone will stimulated your appetites.

Don’t miss their famous Crab Cakes, lump crabmeat prepared with their special mixture, lightly fried to perfection, served with a chipotle aioli sauce. Another exceptional selection is Fire Cracker Calamari accented with an asian chili dipping sauce (traditional marinara also available). The Tuna Bites with chipotle aioli sauce was also beyond expectations.

I thoroughly enjoyed an evening special, Horseradish Encrusted Grouper, which tasted like it just came from the sea with a great flavor of horseradish embellishing the fish. A very pleasing selection!

The Chicken Francaise was another ravishing choice: breast of chicken sautéed in a light egg batter sautéed in lemon and white wine. Outstanding!

Other appetizing choices include: Rigatoni Bolognese, Seafood Fra Diavolo, Honey Roasted Norwegian Salmon and Veal Saltimbocca Ala Romano. Enjoy!
